Don't you just love Autumn?

The leaves, the colours, wrapping up, wearing your boots again?
Well we've had a bumper crop of fruit this year, maybe something to do with all that rain?

Blackberries over the garden wall

Baked with custard

Stewed with apples from our tree

I had 30 bags in the freezer!!

Gooseberries from earlier in the year

It helps to have helpers

It's all about Orla

I never used to like retro...but now I do.

There's something about those geometric designs that I love.
Reminds me of Ed Emberley designs and Charlie Harper.

I have the Orla Kiely mugs now - a gift from my daughter

going along with the retro theme....vintage chicken salt and pepper shakers

Mum's Moira ware bread bin and storage jars

Then throw in a couple of tea towels, tins, an apron and oven gloves.....all gifts from my daughters

for the newly modelled kitchen

Custom made units from the Old Creamery in Yeovil

Plates Heritage and Veranda by Denby remind me my mum's plates form the 70s

More Orla Kiely shopping bags from Tesco.

A little house by the sea

Oh I can dream can't I?

One day all my hard work and slog will pay off and I shall retire to Cornwall and live by the sea.
In the meantime I like to watch films like 'About Time'...what a lovely film but also set in Cornwall where the family have tea on the beach.

The house featured in the film, after a bit of googling, is Porthpean House, just 50 yards from the beach. So when I say a little house on the beach...I probably mean one like this for my growing brood.

'scuse me while I just go and do the lottery...

Chorizo and bean stew

At a recent food festival in my hometown, I paid an extortionate amount of money for a tiny pot of chorizo and butter bean stew. Not to be outdone, I found a Jamie Oliver recipe which although hit the spot, did need a little 'je ne sais quoi' - i.e.. a glass of red wine.

It was even tastier the next day...defo making this one again.

Bake off

I thought I'd try out a new recipe: Mary Berry's Lemon and Poppy Seed Tray Bake

Although I must confess, I've made this cake twice now, religiously following the recipe and both times I've made the same mistake of adding the milk to the cake mixture instead of the icing! Never mind it was still delicious.

Dear Santa please bring me one of these, I think I need it

I know it costs a heck of a lot of money (actually it's reduced instore, atm), but it would look so nice on my counter!
